Q: Why should we buy an organ from you when we can get one on the internet cheaper?
A: You are taking a big chance when you buy from an individual that may not even know themselves what problems could be present. If you buy from a dealer they may not know or may not tell you the whole story. We are technicians and have a long standing reputation for telling the customer what we know about the instrument they are looking at. Over the internet there are no guarantees of what you will get.
Q: How are your "Gold Seal" organs different from the other organs you sell?
A: Gold seal means we know the origin to be from a home or a church that did not use the organ very often. To go into this in more detail you have to understand that a worn out set of key contacts cannot be repaired. Once the micro fine palladium wire has been cut through by thousands of repetitions of the keys being struck the keyboards has to be replaced. Since these organs have not been made in 43 years the only parts are used ones and the labor involved is tremendous. That is why you should strive to buy an organ that has not been used extensively and the buss bars have been checked, cleaned, and greased. Once that is done the buss shifter can be moved to a new spot as intended by the Hammond organ co.
Q: How do you ship and deliver the organ to us?
A: In most cases we deliver ourselves and set it up in your church or home. Sometimes we use a shipper and contact a service person in your area to make sure everything goes smoothly. Having an organ dropped off in your church parking lot by a carrier and them telling you “ok sign here and good luck" is a recipe for disaster and not something we do!
Q: what is the difference in the B3 and other Hammond organs?
A: The B3 became the most famous organ due to its beautiful styling and the fact that artists like Jimmy Smith and many others made it famous. The B3, C3, RT3 and A-100 series were the last generation of the great Hammond tone wheel organs. The production was 1955 to 1972 give or take a few years. No one is sure. Prior to that the B2, RT2 and C2 were in production. Nothing is wrong with those organs, but be aware that they do not have percussion. The later production had smooth drawbars and the earlier ones did not. We can add a Trek TP-2 percussion (link to http://www.trekii.com/TP2B.html ) that, in my opinion, is better than the Hammond original percussion. The older models include the CV, BV, D and RT. They did not have assignable vibrato, percussion or smooth drawbars.
Q: What do you do to the organs before you sell them?
A: We make everything works as intended. We can certainly add many options and do things to ensure that less service will be needed in the future such as a rebuild tube preamp, a solid state preamp, reverb, transposer, crazy bass sub system, tone controls, and a keyboard shelf.
